Day 1
Departure

Book your flight for Day 1 or decide to arrive sooner to rest before we begin. Accommodation not included on Day 1.

Day 2
Arrival and Ground

Landing in Africa is quite an experience. Take time to settle into the earth and the spirit of the land.

Guests will arrive in Moshi and settle at the lodging before heading to the opening ceremony where the first yoga class will be held in the afternoon in order to set the intention for the days ahead. Yoga class will be followed by a Maasai Medicine workshop to learn about the use of traditional medicines. Enjoy the sunset over the plains before heading to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3
Wake Up to Nature

The day will begin with a gentle yoga session before heading into town to experience life in the villages of Tanzania. You will be guided through the local market to get a taste of the richness of foods and flavors of Tanzanian cuisine. After this you will arrive at a local home to learn the traditional cooking methods of the Chagga tribe. Have you ever made coconut milk from scratch? Well, here’s your chance! Try your hand at all of the local methods of cooking, and end your experience digging into a tasty meal with your new friends.

Accommodation: Pink Flamingo Lodge or similar

Day 4
Move - Our Safari Begins! Karatu

After a grounding morning yoga flow and breakfast we will gather into our safari car to begin the trek to the National Parks. As we enjoy the drive to Karatu we will stop for some cultural experiences along the way. We will take a game drive through Tarangire National Park or Manyara National Park and arrive to the safari lodge for meditation and/or yoga as the sun sets.

* Depending on the day’s schedule, each evening at our safari lodges there will be opportunities for evening activities such as sunset yoga, guided meditation, a fireside chat, Massai beading workshops, and expressive journaling options. Take time each evening to internalize your day and begin to explore all of the facets of healing that you would like to achieve.

Accommodation: Ngorongoro Farm House or similar

Day 5
Ngorongoro Crater and transfer to Serengeti

Rise early for a sunrise game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Some have called it the Garden of Eden. there is no other place like it on Earth. You will have a chance to see the Big 5!

A meditation and a stretch at lunchtime will help us as we get back into the cars to transfer to Serengeti National Park. Once in the Serengeti, we will take a leisurely game drive to the lodge. Here there are so many possibilities for animal viewing.

We will arrive to the lodge before sunset for yoga and a journaling session to fully capture our emotions of the first 2 days of safari.

Accommodation: Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge or Sametu (or similar)

Day 6
Serengeti Game Drive

We have all day to explore the Serengeti! The group and our guide will decide how best to spend this day (for instance, an early morning drive with a bush breakfast…and back to the lodge for the heat of the day, OR full day drive and back to the lodge for sunset)

Accommodation: Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge, Sametu or similar

Day 7
Serengeti to Lake Eyasi

One more opportunity for animal viewing awaits as we drive from the Serengeti to Lake Eyasi, the home of the Hadzabe tribe, one of the most famous hunter gatherer tribes in Tanzania.

Accommodation: Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge or Kisima Ngeda

Day 8
Lake Eyasi

If you would like to take this opportunity to join the Hadzabe as they take their morning hunt, you would do this now. It is not an experience that everyone will want to have, as this is their livelihood and you will be joining a real and true hunting trip for the tribesmen to find their daily bread. A leisurely morning at the lodge is also a fantastic option.

We will transfer to West Kili for the retreat portion of our experience.

*This day will include lots of driving. We will stop a few times along the way for mindfulness breaks, quick stretches, and cultural connection.

Accommodation: Africa Amini Maasai Lodge

Day 9

Wake to the sun rising over Mt. Kilimanjaro and know that you have fully arrived for your healing and wellness experience. This day will be a day to rest from the safari, settle your mind, experience additional healing opportunities such as energy healing or massage.
