Do you love working with your hands, heart, and mind all while making a difference? Then this trip to Bulgaria is just for you!
Stone & Compass purchased a theater near our center in central Bulgaria. This new project will bring youth from around the world together to create their own interactive place. Take a “hands on approach” as you help transform this abandoned communist era theater into a brand new space that can be used for programs in theater, arts, drama, summer camps, and more. You will also have the opportunity to get to know and give back to the local community who will have access to all that this theatre can offer. The week will culminate in a village wide BBQ hosted by Stone & Compass and all of you; our service learning travelers!
On this eleven day tour you will have the opportunity to explore the great sites of Bulgaria while also completing 15 hours of service learning. Service will consist of helping refurbish and rebuild a theatre in the central square of the village of Stolat, Bulgaria. Travel to two major cities (Sofia & Veliko Tarnovo) see sites spanning 5000 years of history including a Roman amphitheater & a medieval castle. In addition to all the cultural excursions ample time will be provided to relax and adventure through the natural wonders of Bulgaria by hiking to a waterfall and enjoying our 2000 acre property in the Balkan Mountains.
This youth Service Learning trip is part of Stone & Compass’ Bulgaria Sustainable Development Project supporting the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
