Depart the United States on overnight flight to Rome, Italy.
Arrive Rome late afternoon due to 6-hour time difference, check into hotel. Welcome dinner at traditional Italian trattoria.
Put on your walking shoes! Today we will explore many of Rome’s most famous places. We will depart in the morning and head to the Colosseum. Afterward, we head to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. (3 hrs)

Dinner this evening will be in the lively Roman neighborhood of Trastevere.
We will depart early this morning to have the chance to be some of the first people to explore the Vatican museums today. We will visit the Sistine Chapel and after the tour you can spend your day inside the Museums.
Today we will leave early to take the 2.5 hour drive to Pompei In the afternoon, you will explore Pompeii, Italy’s most famous archaeological site, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site like no other. Pompeii, a lively city, got indeed buried in ash and pumice by Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in 79 AD. You can see a perfectly preserved fossil record of ancient Roman life.
After our visit in Pompeii, we will head to Naples, where have a chance to wander around the city and pop into the shops. You will also have a chance to see many of Naples’ historic buildings including, San Carlo Opera House, Europe’s oldest working theater.
Take an early morning flight to Athens. Check into hotel. This afternoon we will experience a food tour of Athens. Taste your way through Omonia Square and the Central Market, while you hear about the history and tradition of local foods. Wander around the historic city before settling in for the night.
Begin the day on top of the Acropolis by exploring the phenomenally built Parthenon and learn about Grecian culture in the Acropolis Museum. Wander down the hill to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, completed in the second century. After a delicious Greek lunch, meander around the Plaka neighborhood and admire the beauty of the flower-lined cobblestone streets. Pick up traditional crafts on the way back to the hotel for an early night.
Spend a whole day at Delphi! This extensive mountainside archaeological complex contains the remains of the sanctuaries of Apollo and Athena Pronaia, as well as an ancient stadium and theater.

This evening we will enjoy one of the best sunsets in Greece from one of Santorini’s beautiful lookout points.
This morning we will travel by ferry to Heraklion, Crete. When we arrive will visit Knossos – considered the oldest city in Europe, Knossos was the center of the Minoan civilization.
Later, we will walk around the town of Heraklion, visiting the Koules Fortress. The fortress is a living sign of the Venetian rule that lasted for more than four centuries on the island before Ottomans. If time allows, we will visit the Crete aquarium, Cretaquarium, one of the largest in Europe.
Today we will travel from Heraklion to Chania (2.5hrs). We will spend time walk about the harbor city of Chania and then will have a special Greek cooking class this afternoon where students will have the opportunity to learn secrets about the local cuisine and how food plays a role in local culture.
Today we have a chance to spend the day at Elafonisi Beach. This stunning pink beach is considered one of the top 10 beaches of the world. We will travel 90 minutes from Chania, through the mountains, to this piece of paradise.
We will have plenty of time to explore the beach as well as some great hiking nearby.
Afterward, we will visit the nearby Monastery of Panagia Chrisoskalitissa before traveling back to Chania.
Depart on your return flight to the United States.
