On this day, we head to the seaside city of Zadar. Sit along the waters edge at the famed Morske Orgulie (Sea Organ), pass through the ancient city gates and watch the sunset along the Paeo Maritime.
Today we visit Diocletian’s Palace (pictured) in the city of Split. This incredible ancient wonder begins our journey into the old section of Split with its Romanesque architecture. Our day is completed with a visit to Putalj Winery and olive plantation.
Dubrovnik, a true highlight of the trip, this morning we head to the famous seaside port of Dubrovnik. Stroll along the ancient walls, enjoy a ride on Dubrovnik cable cars, sit and have lunch in the old city and bask in the sights of the Mediterranean gem.
The morning after your arrival in Palermo, we will embark upon a walking tour of the city with a local historian. Many of Palermo’s treasures are immediately accessible with a pleasant stroll, including the Palermo Theater, a fascinating street market, the Cathedral, the Norman Palace and Pretorian Fountain. You’ll quickly navigate Palermo like a local! Before dinner, we will enjoy a show by a local puppet master.
Today explore the hillside town Taormina near Mount Etna.
We will continue to explore Palermo. Pictured is the Piazza Pretoria located in the Historical Center of Palermo.
Over the last 10 days, we have traveled through Croatia and Sicily. We started with a thorough examination of Croatia and its coastal culture and history. We then experienced and learned the mixed Muslim and Greek history of Sicily, both of which they’ve managed to thoroughly embrace. We hope this experience leaves you enriched, fulfilled and excited to consider what to explore next year!
